My husband and I were late getting out on the reservoir. With less than an hour until sunset, we got the canoe in the water and went off. There was a lot of road traffic noise (probably because it was Friday and several of the high schools had graduation today), but the water itself was calm and there were very few other boats out. We spotted one heron and were able to approach it within 40 yards. Of course, at some point we were too close and it flew off, but not before I snapped a few.
