As the mother of two very talented sons, I wanted to do an entry on my older son Daniel. Although I have some talent in music (in addiiton to the photography), Daniel outshines me by magnitudes. He got to show off last night at the Reservoir High School Winter Concert where he played the solo on a couple pieces by Mark O'Connor. There is nothing like a mother's pride in seeing her son perform at such a high level. I'm happy to say that Daniel's cheering section included family from Texas and Michigan who came in especially for this concert.
My hats go off to the music program at RHS. The directors take the kids to heights not found at most high schools. Both of my boys sang in the concert choir and we were very much impressed with their performance as well.
My final note in this post. I did get the new Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 VRII lens so I could photograph this concert without using flash. I felt like I was still learning how to use it last night and I certainly better understand the lighting challenges of capturing performers on stage. I am fairly pleased with the pictures, and I look forward to doing more with it.
