We made our annual trek to Grand Caverns in Grottoes, VA earlier this month. We make a trip out of picking up one of my sons in Front Royal from a camp. From there, we go to Staunton to see a Shakespearean comedy at the Blackfriars theater. After a relaxing evening, we usually take a tour of the Grand Caverns, what I consider to be one of the nice caves on the east coast. It is not very commercialized and has a huge number of formations, expecially shields and columns.
This year's trip included my parents who have never seen these caverns. They were impressed and even though I've been many times, I still love these caverns. The beauty of something so natural always amazes me.
I used my 35-70mm 2.8 lens this time with no flash (handheld) and was relatively pleased with the results.
