This week, I've been waiting for the Titan Arum to bloom at the US Botanical Gardens. I have been watching the flower via their webcam so that I can go down and take a picture and enjoy it in all its glory. It is a giant flower and is supposed to smell like rotting meat.
So while I'm waiting, I have a cactus which also is stinky (to attract pollinators). It is known as a carrion, giant zulu or what I prefer, Starfish Flower. It originates from South Africa and is a succulent which seems to bloom when it gets plenty of heat and light. Thankfully, it is much smaller, not too smelly, and hopefully will produce a few more blossoms this summer.
